Arianna Splendore

Restorer, Co-founder of AF THE LAB

  • Arianna Splendore, who graduated in Industrial Engineering with a focus on chemistry from e-Campus University, with a thesis on nanomaterials for the consolidation of paint film, integrates scientific research into restoration practice.
  • A graduate of the Regional School of Restoration – Veneto Institute for Cultural Heritage, she has gained extensive experience studying 19th- and 20th-century painting techniques, applying innovative methods such as transparent lining with foam adhesives and the use of nanocomposite polymers for consolidation.
  • At AF THE LAB, a laboratory dedicated to conservation and research on materials, he collaborates with museums, foundations and universities on restoration and advanced diagnostic projects.

Francesca Lo Russo

Restorer, Co-founder of AF THE LAB

  • A restorer specializing in varnishing, stuccoing, and pictorial retouching of paintings from the 17th to 20th centuries.
  • After training at the Restoration School of the Civic Museum “Ala Ponzone” in Cremona, she continued her studies with highly specialized courses in reintegration and varnishing techniques taught by Rachel Barker, conservator at the Tate Modern in London.
  • Over time, she has refined a technical and sensitive language, grounded in knowledge of materials and the pursuit of balance between light, color, and matter.
  • At AF THE LAB, she develops interventions dedicated to the aesthetic restoration and contemporary reinterpretation of pictorial processes, in constant dialogue with the most advanced conservation practices such as transparent lining and cleaning with colloidal systems.
