BOLDINI PROJECT

The creative process

The Boldini project involved the restoration and study of more than 60 works, accompanied by an in-depth diagnostic examination to understand the artist’s creative process. The main phases of the work were:

  • Diagnostic tests:
  • Multispectral (UV, reflectography, infrared) and spectroscopic investigations on microsamples revealed hidden details of Boldini’s painting technique.
  • Targeted cleaning:
  • Selective removal of surface dirt deposits using macro and micro emulsions, preserving the original paint film.
  • Transparent lining:
  • A patented foam adhesive is applied to ensure structural stability while maintaining visibility of the back of the canvas.
  • Nanostructured consolidation:
  • Use of advanced materials to strengthen the paint film and prevent future deterioration.
