The creative process
The Boldini project involved the restoration and study of more than 60 works, accompanied by an in-depth diagnostic examination to understand the artist’s creative process. The main phases of the work were:
- Diagnostic tests:
- Multispectral (UV, reflectography, infrared) and spectroscopic investigations on microsamples revealed hidden details of Boldini’s painting technique.
- Targeted cleaning:
- Selective removal of surface dirt deposits using macro and micro emulsions, preserving the original paint film.
- Transparent lining:
- A patented foam adhesive is applied to ensure structural stability while maintaining visibility of the back of the canvas.
- Nanostructured consolidation:
- Use of advanced materials to strengthen the paint film and prevent future deterioration.
An intervention that combines science and art, restoring luminosity and depth to the work and revealing the secrets of Boldini’s painting technique.
